Equine Massage Therapy

Horse Massage Therapy

Equine Massage is a form of physical manipulation that focuses on the soft tissues of the body, such as muscles, nerves and circulatory structures. Massage can combine deep and superficial routines, stretching, vigorous manipulations, kneading, and gentle relaxation techniques. A skilled massage therapist will apply the specific techniques that they feel will best suit each individual client (horse).

Massage is frequently used as a holistic approach to help the horse – it is often partnered with chiropractors, saddle fitters, farriers, nutritionists, and veterinarians. The perfect combination depends entirely on the horse and the owner.

Benefits of Massage:

  • Increase range of motion
  • Increase muscle efficiency for event performance
  • Decrease scar tissue and reduce soft tissue injury
  • Assist with respiration, digestion, detoxification, and immunity
  • Relax the stressed horse
  • Improve circulation and increase oxygen to the muscles
  • Reduce muscular skeletal tension and stiffness
  • Increase elasticity of muscles and connective tissue
  • Reduce recovery time from post performance

Equine massage therapy is complemented by kinesio taping and regular massage therapy for the rider
